You were my sunshine, my only sunshine
You made me happy when skies were grey
But now your love, dear, is no longer mine
Now we are strangers with nothing to say.

The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamt I held you close in my arms
So sad it wasn't so, my heart is now weeping
Since it remembered how your kiss warms.

I've always meant to make you happy
I know you tried to do the same.
And while this may sound so very sappy
I'll always be your Sire and you my Dame.
